Elektric Voodoo and The Routine are two touring bands from San Diego, CA that blend afrobeat, psycdelic rock, funk, and soul, into infectious grooves that always bring heat to the dance floor.

Elektric Voodoo is led by Scott Tournet, co-founder of Grace Potter & The Nocturnals, and their guitarist for 13+ years.  The band’s mix of afrobeat, Latin rhythms, psychedelia, rock & roll, jazz, and space blues is its own unique genre that tastefully straddles the line between modern and vintage. What the listener is left with is a very unique sound, while immediately is very danceable, also offers innovation, song craft, and melody. They’re a band that can excite and exhaust a Saturday night audience while also engaging and challenging more focused listeners.  Since 2016, Elektric Voodoo has toured extensively throughout the U.S., including a national tour in Fall 2018 in support of they’re new album Animal, and a second east coast tour in winter 2019.  They have shared the stage with a wide variety of artists including Karl Denson’s Tiny Universe, Anders Osborne, Rebirth Brass Band, Con Brio, Songhoy Blues, Easy Star All Stars, Five Alarm Funk, Polyrhythmics, Orgone, and more.

With The Nocturnals, Scott Tournet toured all over the world, performing at some of the biggest festivals, stadiums, theaters, and clubs.  He wrote, recorded, and performed with The Allman Brothers Band, Billy Gibbons (ZZ Top), Taj Mahal, Robert Plant (Led Zeppelin), Bob Weir, Mavis Staples, Dan Auerbach (The Black Keys), and many other notable artists.  Elektric Voodoo is a powerful 6 piece ensemble with Tournet (vocals, guitar, harmonica), Matt Bozzone (drums/percussion, vocals), Ty Kiernan (congas, timbales, percussion), Travis Klein (tenor sax, keyboards, percussion), Brad Nash (baritone sax, percussion) and Luke Henning (bass, vocals). In addition to Tournet’s past success, other members of Elektric Voodoo have toured throughout the U.S. with other bands.  Matt Bozzone also plays drum kit and percussion for Afrolicious, while Travis Klein plays saxophone and flute in Sure Fire Soul Ensemble.

Elektric Voodoo’s first two albums have been met with incredibly positive critical reactions. Glide Magazine describes their first album in saying, tastes of The Flaming Lips, Santana, Fela Kuti, Tame Impala and The Arcade Fire break through atop this soulful collection of songs that are birthed with unlimited potential,” while Relix Magazine says it’s, “intriguing, enticing, and engaging all at the same time —– evidence of Elektric Voodoo’s ability to cast a hypnotic spell”

The Routine is a four-piece Funk-Rock band rooted in San Diego, CA that exploded onto the West-Coast music scene in 2013 with their blend of funk, rock, soul, afro-beat, and psychedelia.  Fusing the simplistic rock ’n’ roll lineup of vocals, guitar, bass, and drums with rhythmic tact creates a mesmerizing sound that leaves concertgoers wondering “how do they do it?”. Since inception, they have taken their memorable live performance across the western United States and established themselves as one of So-Cal’s “must-see” acts.
