Shavon and The Boneyard

Shavon and The Boneyard is extremely excited to be returning to our home club, The Boom Boom Room, for a fun-filled evening of high-energy grovin’ funk, soul and R&B.

This 12-piece funk powerhouse includes some of the Bay Area’s finest musicians including:

  • Shavon Moore – Lead Vocals (The Funky Spliff)
  • Brad Hamblin – Drums/Band Leader (Project Q, Quench, Bdubs & The Players, The Funky Spliff)
  • Willie Riser – Bass (Little Milton, Melvin Seals, Santa Esmeralda, Lisa Kindred, Carl Thomas, Frank Minor & The Nighshifts, The Funky Spliff)
  • Neil Castro – Guitar (Lyrics Born, Pete Escovedo, The Funky Spliff, Jane Lynch)
  • Neal Roston – Keys (The Funky Spliff, Project Q, Cosmic Mercy)
  • Hannah Glass – Violin/Vocals (The Funky Spliff, Project Q)
  • George Brahler – Trumpet/Backup Vocals (The Funky Spliff, Element Brass Band, Lantz Laswell & The Vibe Tribe)
  • Eli Maliwan – Alto & Tenor Sax/Flute (The Funky Spliff)
  • Natalie John – Trumpet / Vocals (The Funky Spliff)
  • Adam Grant – Percussion (Curt Yagi & The People Standing Behind Me, Grandma’s Attic, Grandpa’s Loft, The Funky Spliff)
  • Mark Rosenthal – Percussion / Steel Pan (The Funky Spliff)
  • Byron Colborn – Baritone Sax (The Funky Spliff, Element Brass Band, Lantz Laswell & The Vibe Tribe)

Formed in late 2021 around a common love for vintage funk, soul and R&B, the band is quickly building a reputation as one of the Bay Area’s must-see live acts. Thanks in large part to lead vocalist, Shavon Moore, whose vocal range rivals that of Minnie Riperton.

With an eclectic sound drawing heavily from 1970’s funk, soul and R&B, the band’s live show never fails to feature a healthy mix of original material, instrumentals and obscure covers. This up-and-coming act is known to keep their sound fresh by calling on a revolving door of local talent and special guests including John Corty (Soul-Ska, Vinyl) Tom Muscatine (Snoop Dogg, KC & Jojo, Baby S, San Quin) and hip-hop extraordinaire Baby S.
