No less a jazz organ authority than the legendary Dr. Lonnie Smith has called Wil Blades “the future,” anointing him the heir apparent to “carry on thelegend [and] the legacy of the organ, of the B-3.” Over the past fifteenyears, Blades has grown to be one of the most in-demand organ players on theBay Area scene. In addition to leading his own trio, he works regularly in duosituations with drummers Billy Martin (Medeski Martin and Wood) and ScottAmendola (Nels Cline Singers); and in trios led by guitarist Will Bernard anddrummer Stanton Moore. He’s performed and recorded with a host of jazz andblues greats including Melvin Sparks, Idris Muhammad, Joe Louis Walker, DonBraden, Donald Harrison, Nicholas Payton, Karl Denson, Charlie Hunter, JasonMarsalis, Herlin Riley, and many others.

Sueños is a band striving to fuse Jazz with Hip-Hop, R&B, and Indie Rock.

Sueños is a band pushing the evolution of jazz into a contemporary setting. Rhythms borrowed from Hip-Hop and R&B blend seamlessly with modal and gospel harmony, with bebop-tinged horns flowing over the top to paint a unique musical portrait. Our sound is flexible and easily adapted to any venue, from large rock clubs to intimate art galleries. The Atlantic included us in a feature for their “Saturday Night in America” series. We have performed at the Fillmore Street Jazz Festival in SF, the PDX Jazz Festival in Portland, Herb Alpert’s Vibrato Jazz Grill in LA, and Paris Bistro in Philly, as well as at secret shows curated by SOFAR Sounds SF, SOFAR Sounds Portland, and SOFAR Sounds New York.
