A Dominican New York transplant, Ricky G came up the ranks playing guitar in San Diego, eventually landing with legendary saxophonist and hometown hero Karl Denson’s Tiny Universe (The Rolling Stones/Greyboy Allstars). Ricky also recently released his first 7” Record, Oak Street Blues, ft. George Porter Jr., (The Meters), Deven Trusclair (Dumpstaphunk/Tank and the Bangas), Kevin Lum (The English Beat) & Alfred Jordan (Karl Denson’s Tiny Universe).
Recorded in New Orleans during Jazzfest Week, Ricky G has performed with legendary funk and rock artists through his career, including, George Porter Jr. (The Meters/Dr. John/Patti Labelle/), Robert Randolph, Ivan Neville (Dumpstaphunk), Chuck Leavell (Rolling Stones/Allman Brothers/George Harrison/Eric Clapton/John Mayer), Bernard Fowler (Rolling Stones/Herbie Hancock), Daniel Ponder, Kenneth Crouch (Terrace Martin, DJ Quik, Brandy, Mark Anthony) and Lige Curry (Parliament Funkadelic) to name a few. He’s also worked closely with Grammy Award Winning Producer Kamau Kenyatta (Gregory Porter-Liquid Spirit/Take Me to the Alley).
